Highlights
Image Hotspot: Consecutive numbering of Hotspots
What’s possible now?
Content authors can now display hotspots as consecutive numbers (1, 2, 3, and so on) and control the exact order used for both the visual numbering, screen readers and keyboard navigation. Teachers can use numbered hotspots to present clear, ordered sequences such as procedures, timelines, or guided walkthroughs on top of images. Learners get a predictable, linear path through the hotspots, making it easier to follow steps and understand complex diagrams, including when using assistive technologies.
How to enable it
In the Video or Interactive Video editor:
Open or create Image Hotspots content.
In the global icon setting “global hotspot icon”, choose “Consecutive numbers” as the hotspot icon style.
Use the hotspot list in the editor to arrange hotspots in the desired order; the list order becomes 1, 2, 3, and so on.
Backward compatibility
All existing Image Hotspots continue to work exactly as before.
Icons and behavior only change if an author edits the content and selects “Consecutive numbers”.
Numbered hotspots are optional and can be introduced gradually to new or existing activities.
Availability
This improvement is available in both the new look and feel and the legacy experience.
Image Hotspot: Custom Hotspot Icons
What’s possible now?
Authors can now assign a unique icon to each individual hotspot in Image Hotspots. This makes it much easier to guide learners visually. Different icons can be used to signal different types of content- such as videos, explanations, links, or warnings - helping users quickly understand what to expect. The content becomes more engaging and easier to navigate, especially for users who rely heavily on visual cues. Learners can interact with more confidence, especially when multiple hotspots are close together.
How to enable it
Authors can add or edit a hotspot in the Image Hotspots editor and choose a custom icon for each hotspot in the hotspot settings panel.
Backward compatibility
Any Image Hotspots created before this change will continue to work exactly as before. Authors can opt in to the new behavior when creating new content or by editing existing content and configuring icons per hotspot where it adds value.
Availability
This improvement is available in both the new look and feel and the legacy experience.
A11y: Labels for navigation buttons in Interactive Book
What’s changed?
In Interactive Book with the new look and feel, the Previous and Next navigation controls have been made more clear and accessible across both visual and assistive experiences.
Previously, the navigation buttons could appear as generic controls and, in some assistive technologies, be announced only as “button” due to incorrect label references. This created confusion for users relying on screen readers, as the purpose of the controls was not clearly conveyed.
With this update, the descriptive visual labels, tooltips and aria labels have been added. The screen readers now correctly announce the controls as “Previous page” and “Next page.” This ensures more consistent, understandable navigation for all learners, including those using assistive technologies.

Availability
This is an improvement only for the new look and feel version of Interactive Book. Legacy versions continue to work as before.
Editor labels now use a more consistent visual style
What’s changed?
Labels that previously displayed with a large blue style in the editor now use the same standard-sized grey label styling as other fields. This creates a more consistent editing experience within the content type, and across content types, while reducing visual noise.
